Last week we were sipping champers on the lawn at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed and this week we’re slapping on the factor 50 for World Ducati Week in Misano.
Every other year, thousands of Ducati owners descend onto the circuit and the surrounding area for a celebration of all things red.
Picture Glastonbury, but without the Wellington boots and with added speed. Beautiful ladies, drop dead gorgeous motorbikes and cool people everywhere. It really is a Mecca for motorcycle fans.
The Sun was invited to head the parade from the circuit to the coast for a beach party, thousands of Ducatis, all merrily running red lights thanks to the police who were drafted in to shut the roads and keep the peace.
Away from the bikes, there’s entertainment for every taste, music, great food, Audi R8 and Lamborghini hot laps (Ducati are owned by VAG), more product placement than you can shake a stick at and 35 degree heat to help top up your tan. You don’t need to be a fan of the Bologna brand to enjoy the show, but it helps.
We rode a Monster 797, the kind of every day commuter Ducati that does everything you want, just enough power to keep you happy and the kind of looks that will have you looking back at your bike after every ride.
If you manage to take a Ducati test ride, chances are you’ll want to buy one. Once you have, you have to check out World Ducati Week, there really is no other event like it on the two wheeled calendar.
